Eco3.22 Family Freedom Center Technology Engagement VISTA

The Family Freedom Center seeks to empower the Black community by reconstructing cultural and socio-economic narratives and unapologetically embracing what it means to be Black, both historically and present day. Family Freedom Center will do this by exploring alternative means of education and providing resources that bridge the gap between community and students. This bridge will engage members of the organization with love, respect, guidance, knowledge, and pride and focus efforts to alleviate poverty among our community. As an AmeriCorps VISTA member you will work directly with our Executive Director and staff, our elder outreach program, our youth outreach program, building up our web presence, and exploring and identifying grant opportunities that fall line with Family Freedom Center’s organizational mission. A VISTA member will reevaluate and re-boot the Family Freedom Center’s online platform to meet our goal to create an interactive platform that allows resource challenged or vulnerable members in a user-friendly manner to connect with Family Freedom Center on various online platforms. That will allow FFC members to receive and get information about various programming opportunities, as well as crucial local updates and services. VISTA members will research, study, and write grants that alleviate poverty in our membership and the programming opportunities provided by the organization. The VISTA member will be part of the Ecolibrium3 AmeriCorps VISTA cohort serving in northeastern Minnesota. Although each member is serving in a unique position, all cohort members will participate in VISTA specific activities such as regular cohort meetings, collaborative projects, professional development opportunities, and trainings. Additionally, cohort members will jointly complete one community service project of their cooperative design.
