Austin Public Health Community Youth Development VISTA
 
 
 
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA project works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA project work in such diverse fields as education, health, transportation, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties : Build community skills within the Community Collaborative Committee (CCC) of the 78744 ZIP code. Help bring awareness of Community Youth Development (CYD) resources and programming to Dove Springs. Create a marketing plan to recruit youth and adults for the CCC. Create a sustainability plan to have the Dove Springs community take over management of the CCC. Create Standard Operating Procedures for the CCC that focuses on sustainability. Find community partners to engage with CYD youth, and develop sustainable plans for curating and continuing those relationships. Create quarterly CCC meetings that focus on project planning and Youth/Adult Partnership building. Work with Youth Advisory Committee coordinator to facilitate Youth/Adult Partnerships. Conduct two special projects in March and May, to be decided by the Community Strengths and Needs Assessment. Prepare youth and adults to facilitate CCC meetings.
