MC Volunteer & Donations Program Designer - Human Solutions

Human Solutions, located in Portland, Oregon counters the forces that keep people and communities in poverty by building relationships and assets that create opportunity – today and for future generations. Human Solutions achieves this by partnering with communities impacted by poverty so they can achieve long-term housing and economic security, investing in affordable housing and community assets, and advocating for policies and investments that expand housing and economic opportunity. Our vision is vibrant, healthy neighborhoods where all people can share in the security, hopes and advantages of a thriving, supportive community. Our service area is urban, but part is more suburban in feel. The VISTA member placed at our agency will help end poverty by assisting in developing a robust, effective, well-functioning volunteer and in-kind donations program that engages community members and ensures clients get the resources they need to become housing and income secure. Americorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of their time in an office setting. However, the Human Solutions VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by listening to volunteers, staff and clients to identify their needs and designing a program that best meets them. As a Human Solutions VISTA, you will be part of a larger cohort of AmeriCorps members coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest. Because selections are made on a rolling basis, early applications are strongly encouraged.
