SeedCorps Response Team - Gallup

SeedCorps is a program of Roadrunner Food Bank in partnership with Serve New Mexico and The Community Pantry. The goal of the program is to improve the health and wellness of food insecure families in New Mexico. Food insecure individuals and communities across New Mexico have a higher risk of developing obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic illnesses than their food secure neighbors. SeedCorps AmeriCorps members will serve with one of Roadrunner’s sister food banks, The Community Pantry in Gallup, New Mexico. Members will provide services aimed at addressing food insecurity to individuals across the state. During their nine-month term, members will serve communities in McKinley and Cibola counties. They will support the food access efforts of the hunger relief network across the state by supporting The Community Pantry operations, including but not limited to, the community garden, food distributions, warehouse operations and volunteer management. Members will provide support as needed to address gaps in service that arise as the effects of the COVID 19 Pandemic continue to be felt across the state. These activities could include participating in produce gleaning projects at small farms, expanding into school meal sites to address gaps in service, and addressing the expected increased food need during the holiday season. SeedCorps is committed to providing a dynamic, diverse service environment that engages people who are passionate and committed to ending hunger in New Mexico.
