Based in the heart of Appalachia near the New River Gorge, the Stewards VISTA Leader has a unique and exciting opportunity to serve communities both near and far. Stewards VISTA Leaders serve as the main contact for VISTAs and provide the support and assistance needed to make their service year the best year possible. They work with a diverse group of people from non-profit, educational, and government sectors of society, and broaden one’s understanding of America's communities, organizations, and landscapes. Additionally, VISTA Leaders will have the opportunity to be engaged with projects across the country that address issues such as food security, community resilience, education and jobs development, community engagement and legacy mining impacts. Stewards VISTA Leaders also collaborate on a number of exciting projects throughout the year to help build organizational capacity. Current project focus areas include: marketing, communication, social media, site and partnership development, professional development, training and grant writing. Stewards has successfully placed hundreds of VISTAs at sites across the country. We strive to create a better future for people and for the environment by supporting and investing in the next generation of leaders. As a part of the Stewards VISTA Leader team, you will be part of a larger national organization that takes a multifaceted approach to engaging youth, alleviating poverty, and addressing environmental issues. ***Must have previous AmeriCorps, VISTA, or Peace Corps experience.***
