Family Resource Center Development Associate VISTA

The Family Resource Center (FRC) is dedicated to encouraging the development of healthy children and strong family units by providing support systems, education, and referral services to low income families and families in need. FRC offers a variety of family resources and family support programs that impact the long-term success of families experiencing poverty. FRC offers parenting classes throughout the year as well as after school programs for the youth, which encourages stronger outcomes for youth in the community. FRC works with local partners such as the Department of Human Services, Cooperating Ministries, HOPE House, local churches, RE-1 Valley School District and other agencies to strengthen programs and opportunities for low-income families in Sterling, CO. These partners make all the work we do to help families and youth possible; providing programs, resources, and opportunities to families and youth to exit poverty and improve their quality of life. The VISTA member will strengthen and expand these relationships through community outreach and engagement on behalf of FRC. FRC is located in Sterling Colorado, located in the northeast corner in Logan County, which has a population of 23,000 people. Families living in Logan have limited access to high quality resources such as healthy foods, high quality education, transportation, and other resources. As a member of Family Resource Center, the VISTA member would have the opportunity to develop programming and opportunities for the community, families and youth, and local businesses, organizations, and local officials. The VISTA would have the opportunity to create and implement new programs for families and youth to improve their quality of life, improve their economic outcomes, and strengthen familial bonds.
