Wildlife Educator South
 
 
 
The Wildlife Educator for the South Region will be serving in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW). Schedule: Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm; however, hours will vary by season, and there will be many weekends. Term of Service & Time Requirements: Three-quarter term, 1700 hours. Start date 9/16/2026 - 8/28/27. Monthly stipend $2066.66 and an education award after successful completion of the term of $7,395. Mission "To protect, conserve, manage, and restore wildlife and its habitat for the aesthetic, scientific, educational, recreational, and economic benefits to citizens of Nevada and the United States, and to promote the safety of persons using vessels on the waters of Nevada." The Wildlife Educator engages K-12 students in park-based, citizen science, and conservation projects that encourage higher learning in science and environmental subjects.

Member Duties : The Wildlife Educator will be an essential member of the team for Conservation Education. This person will primarily support the classroom programming, field trips, and community programming offered in the Las Vegas area. This person will also facilitate our statewide Wildlife Education programming in classrooms, among other Conservation Education programming. AmeriCorps members will also help develop and facilitate regional Outdoor Education events demonstrating archery, fishing, and hunting activities for families. These programs extend throughout the Southern Region of Nevada. Their duties will include facilitating, evaluating, and fine-tuning our existing Conservation Education programming, developing new programs, training volunteers, and assisting on volunteer projects. In addition, this person will assist and educate visitors at the Lake Mead Hatchery Visitor Center.
