Fundraising For The Environment

Over the last seven years, Coastal Connections (CCinc) has become a leading expert for environmental protection in Indian River County, Florida. CCinc’s team is made up of a large number of community volunteers who assist with, develop, and lead environmental services all across the community at no cost. However, our work and our impact would not be possible without the support of individual donors. The VISTA will enhance the current fundraising structure through donor stewardship, appreciation, and engagement. The VISTA will also serve on event planning committees to assist with organizational needs. This enhancement will allow the organization to build a stronger financial foundation to further its mission and advance successful programming, including recycling, coastal cleanups, and environmental science education that not only protects local beaches but also the Indian River Lagoon. These habitats are critical for the recovery of sea turtles, and furthermore provide jobs, recreation, tourism, food, and a natural barrier of protection against hurricanes and sea level rise for the surrounding communities. By prioritizing free access to environmental services like recycling and science education in low-income neighborhoods CCinc helps small businesses overcome the financial barriers of operating in an environmentally friendly manner, increases volunteer engagement from local community members, reduces the amount of debris that washes into the waterways, and fills knowledge gaps regarding environmental degredation, its impact on the surrounding communities, and how we think about solutions for the future.
