Member Duties : The primary assignment will be mapping black-tailed prairie dog colonies on the Thunder Basin National Grassland. This will involve camping out 4 days a week and operating Utility Task Vehicles and All-Terrain Vehicles.
Mapping black-tailed prairie dog colonies using electronic tablets for field data collection.
Locating study sites with the use of a compass, topographic maps, and/or a GPS unit.
Maintaining field equipment and vehicles in good working condition.
May assist in other projects such as surveying for raptors, mountain plover, swift fox, burrowing owls, and northern goshawk; constructing or completing habitat project work such as watershed development, fencing, or clearing areas to establish food that is more desirable or cover habitat.
It may also assist in reporting results from data gathered throughout the term.
