SerVermont - VT Forest, Parks & Recreation Wood Warms VISTA

The mission of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (FPR) is to manage for and protect healthy forests by working with Vermonters to promote forest health, supporting best management practices, sustainable use, and respect for the land. The Forest Economy Program within FPR works to maintain a vibrant forest-based economy by providing information and education to a wide range of audiences on the economic and technical aspects of wood availability, harvesting, processing and markets including the use of wood as an energy source. FPR supports Vermont Wood Banks and operates the Woods Warms program. Vermont Wood Banks and the Woods Warms program have been helping Vermonters who face barriers to keeping their homes warm by providing affordable and accessible firewood (cordwood) for more than 50 years. FPR’s Wood Warms and Wood Bank Assistance initiatives support organizations working to reduce the thermal energy burden and energy insecurity that affect many Vermont households.
