PCC: YOUTH CORPS CREW LEADER

olk County Conservation Youth Corps (PCCYC) engages diverse youth in hands-on environmental stewardship, outdoor recreation, and conservation education. Summer sessions run for three weeks, Monday–Friday, with two sessions offered in June and July. Youth ages 14–18 form daytime crews of 10, led by two adult Crew Leaders. Crews work on meaningful outdoor projects that benefit the community and build essential skills. PCCYC provides transportation, tools, training, and lunch for all participants. Spend your summer outdoors restoring habitats, maintaining trails, leading environmental education, and building leadership and outdoor skills. Crew Leaders co-lead crews and gain experience in team management, conservation practices, and outdoor instruction. Four Quarter-Time Youth Corps Crew Leaders will serve with Polk County Conservation through the Polk County Conservation AmeriCorps Program. Members gain valuable leadership and job skills, receive a living stipend of $6,270 (paid throughout the 450-hour term), and earn a Segal Education Award of $1,956.35 upon successful completion for education or student loans. These are Quarter-Time positions requiring a minimum of 450 hours over 13 weeks (approx. 38 hours/week). Note: This is not a direct Polk County Conservation employment position. Crew Leaders are AmeriCorps members serving with Polk County Conservation as a host site. They are not Polk County employees and do not receive employee benefits. All terms, benefits, and requirements are set by AmeriCorps.
