Lands & Trails Steward - Stowe Land Trust/VHCB
 
 
 
Stowe Land Trust is looking for a Lands and Trails Steward to conduct conserved lands monitoring, trail maintenance and accessibility improvements, volunteer and school group outreach activities and workdays, invasive species control and ecological restoration projects, and other management activities on our conserved properties. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys being outside, conducting hands-on land and trail projects, teaching other people, and wants to see the concrete impacts of their service on the land. Stowe Land Trust conserves the land and waters we love to enhance quality of life for all connected to the Stowe area. Stowe Land Trust envisions a community in which everyone can access, connect with, and enjoy the benefits of conserved land. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. Stowe Land Trust has a small staff of 3-6 individuals who work in a cozy, communal office space in Stowe Village, Vermont. We promote a semi-flexible service environment. Staff are remote an average of one day per week, with all staff expected in the office on staff and board meeting days. Core service hours occur between 10am and 4pm. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 47 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $30,500 (pre-tax) for the service term. Member will receive an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service.

Member Duties : •Assess, plan, conduct, and oversee trail work activities on conserved properties •Coordinate and lead individual and group adult and youth volunteers for stewardship projects. •Assess and oversee invasive species removal projects. •Participate in conserved land monitoring, boundary walking and marking, and other land management projects and activities •Plan and oversee ecological restoration projects (e.g., tree plantings). •Assist with land-based outreach activities and stewardship-related database needs and reporting. •Participate in an Independent Service Project and all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives.
