ATTENTION SUMMER ASSOCIATE APPLICANTS: Candidates MUST be from the community in which they are applying to serve. Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring & responsible citizens. Boys & Girls Clubs in Indian Country (BGCIC) provide a place where Native youth can celebrate their culture & community, enjoy healthy fun with peers & learn new skills & self-confidence under the guidance of responsible adults. The goal of the overall BGCIC AmeriCorps*VISTA is to ensure that Native Boys & Girls Clubs can lift local community youth out of poverty by creating community leaders and employees of the future, & introducing youth to positive lifestyle choices that will make them productive, healthy members of society, VISTA members build organizational capacity through the following objectives; 1. Internal Operations & Management: position a Club to be able to have maximum impact & aid youth to succeed in adulthood, as defined by BGCA's Formula for Impact & national programs 2. Program Development & Impact: improve the Club's program delivery 3. Resource Development: ensure sustainability of the local Club through fund seeking tasks 4. Strategic Relationships: build strategic relationships in the community to ensure sustainability Sustainability: ensure sustainability of the local Club organization through tasks to further embed the Club in the community. BGCIC operates under BGCA’s Formula for Impact model, whose priority outcomes are achieved through the implementation of core program areas (which go hand-in-hand with the CNCS goals of healthy futures & education): Character/Leadership Development, Education/Career Development, Health/Life Skills, Arts/Sports, & Fitness/Recreation.

Member Duties : ATTENTION SUMMER ASSOCIATE APPLICANTS: Candidates MUST be from the community in which they are applying to serve. At the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale in Scottsdale, AZ Summer Associates will work in one or both of the following 2 areas and they will work to support & expand the BGCIC AmeriCorps*VISTA Project’s goal, objectives, and priority areas. 1. Programming to prevent summer learning loss for students who attend Title 1 eligible schools &/or Department of Education’s School Improvement Grants schools. 2. Programming to expand the USDA Summer Food Service Program or the USDA Seamless Summer Programs (can be linked to the summer learning loss programming).
