Alaska Native Heritage Center Development

The Alaska Native Heritage Center Development VISTA will be assigned to work in partnership with the Director of Development and Communications and the Senior Manager of Grants. These two positions work together to generate funds for the Alaska Native community. Through grants, fundraising events, strategic communications, advocacy, and broad community efforts, the Development Department raises funds that support programs and initiatives focused on alleviating poverty for Alaska Native community members through culturally supportive services. These services range from Master Artist Classes, internships/apprenticeships, academic programs, and statewide supports to cultural practice. The Alaska Native Heritage Center is committed to addressing inequities within societal systems, particularly those which have outsized impacts upon the Alaska Native community. To that end, we make sure that culture, healing, and art are present throughout as much of our operations as possible. VISTA members get the opportunity to learn about the rich cultural history of the Alaska Native community while witnessing monumental events and programs for the community. We’ve done incredible work to preserve and strengthen Alaska Native cultures, arts, and traditions and we want your help to make sure we can keep doing this important work. This position is dedicated to supporting grant writing, project implementation, fundraising, event management, strategic communications, and messaging across several platforms. Applicants can expect to be exposed to a variety of useful skill-sets, ranging from graphic design and social media management to budget development and project management. Individuals from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
