Communities of Transformation-Mobile Site Coordinator

Communities of Transformation (COT) is holistic, relational nonprofit focused on poverty alleviation in every community. The mission of COT is to move families from surviving to thriving by developing personal leadership skills and building authentic relationships. Communities of Transformation is a community-wide, interdenominational effort designed 1) to change the conversation about issues of poverty, 2) to raise awareness among both churches and community leaders, and 3) to seek to break the generational grip of poverty. Communities of Transformation aligns with the programming priorities of both Economic Opportunity and Education. The VISTA members provide increased capacity to the various COT communities, as well as statewide efforts. VISTA members will assist in the building of the required infrastructure in each of the COT sites, will identify and expand community partnerships, will provide publicity and communications with the sites and throughout the state, will recruit and prepare training opportunities for the volunteers that are identified, and will assist nearby communities as they explore a COT initiative for their communities. The beneficiaries will be families in poverty in each of the communities, as well as those volunteers and community leaders who will gain new understanding about the lives of those who live daily in poverty. VISTA members have a unique opportunity to be part of a holistic, relational approach to poverty alleviation and be part of a cohort of VISTAS serving across lower Alabama.
