ACE at Siena College - HUD Digital Inclusion Coordinator

60 Million Americans do not have basic digital literacy or internet access. This “Digital Divide” mostly affects families earning less than $25k/year, individuals without high school diplomas, and communities of color; the ConnectHome Initiative aims to diminish this gap. Serving with 1 of 14 Public Housing Agencies (PHA), ConnectHome VISTAs will link area residents with the resources of the PHA, the Siena College community, and the local community to bridge the digital divide with sustainable programs and services. The Digital Inclusion VISTAs will work on a variety of capacity building areas such as volunteer recruitment, resource mobilization and building new community partnerships in order to help form sustainability in the area/site they are serving. The HUD ConnectHome VISTA Program has 14 POSITIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Through a partnership between the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and AmeriCorps, 14 VISTA members will be serving with the ConnectHome Initiative. (http://connecthome.hud.gov/ ) Siena College, working with HUD and AmeriCorps, oversees this program.
