Alaska VISTA Leader - Rural Alaska Community Action Program

*NOTICE: YOU MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ONE YEAR OF VISTA, AMERICORPS, NCCC, OR PEACE CORPS SERVICE TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION. This VISTA Leader in Anchorage supports 10 VISTAs located in urban and hub communities in Alaska. The VISTA Leader will support the program through member recruitment, outreach and training. The high cost of living in rural Alaska and dearth of opportunities is a significant burden. The RurAL CAP VISTA program will continue to address this challenge by building capacity of host agencies that work with and for rural Alaskans. The VISTA Leader will help to develop a strong project through research, building relationships with partner agencies, compiling resources, and project planning, while supporting current VISTA Members. The Leader also recruits new VISTA members, organizes and facilitates in-service training, creates a VISTA newsletter in collaboration with Alaska VISTA Leaders, updates social media, connects with members weekly, holds biweekly teleconferences, and assists in site troubleshooting and general project planning. RurAL CAP is a large and stable nonprofit with decades of experience working with AmeriCorps programs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to expand their experience with national service and leadership, indigenous peoples, project coordination and management, and general nonprofit professional skills. BENEFITS: Monthly stipend ($1,533), relocation (up to $1000) and settling in allowance ($550) for relocating members, health benefits, child care assistance, and Education Award ($5,815) or cash stipend ($1,500) and housing allowance ($100/mo). Three former RurAL CAP VISTAs and leaders are currently employed at RurAL CAP because it is a great place to serve and work. There will also be opportunities for rural travel to increase the VISTA leader's knowledge base. **Interviews will happen on a rolling basis. Apply today!**
