The Prepare Colorado-Wyoming AmeriCorps VISTA Project is designed with the overall goal of making the states of Colorado and Wyoming the most disaster-prepared states in the nation. The purpose of the project is to reduce poverty by increasing the capacity of local communities to respond and recover effectively when affected by disasters. This will be done by focusing on strengthening preparedness projects, building new local partnerships, and renewing our dedication to our current partners.

Member Duties : Activities will include but not be limited to: 1. Research and update community profiles 2. Identify local leaders 3. Develop and cultivate new partnerships 4. Update MOUs with established partners 5. Collaborate with Communication Specialists to standardize the preparedness messaging in the community 7. Contribute to the current systems in place for tracking partnerships 8. Help identify new systems/processes 9. Work with the appropriate people to develop needs assessments 10. Collaborate with the Regional Community Preparedness and Resiliency Services team to develop preparedness training and programs for use at the local level 11. Engage the whole community in preparedness activities and projects. 12.VISTA members will strengthen the current Preparedness Program 13. Identify and train volunteers 14. Create/update continuum binders at the current service site
