AmeriCorps NCCC Traditional Corps Team Leader - Summer 2018

AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a full-time, team-based residential program. Team Leaders apply and are selected to serve at one of four regional campuses, located in Denver, CO; Sacramento, CA; Vinton, IA; and Vicksburg, MS. The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service. NCCC requires an 11-month commitment of its Team Leaders, who have a demonstrated leadership background and a strong interest and willingness to participate in a national service program. Team Leaders lead teams of 8-12 members who perform service projects throughout the region of their assigned campus. Projects are developed in conjunction with sponsoring organizations and address critical needs in the areas of natural and other disasters, infrastructure improvement, environmental stewardship and conservation, energy conservation, and urban and rural development. Teams can expect to complete between 4-6 projects during their term of service. During their term of service, Team Leaders are expected to be the primary point of contact for the team and the program staff. NCCC exceeds the responsibilities of a typical 9 to 5 job. A project sponsor may assign additional work, a member must complete additional Independent Service Project (ISP) hours, and members are required to participate in team activities, meetings and selected team role responsibilities. Due to the high level of responsibility, a member cannot engage in any outside activity (e.g., employment, classes, or personal volunteer opportunities) that either precludes, limits, or detracts from the member serving successfully. Housing is provided by the NCCC, either at the campus or at the project site.
