Anti-Hunger VISTA Member

NyE Communities Coalition is a 501(c)3 non profit that is dedicated to providing resources, education and training to low-income individuals. We emulate health and wellness through our organization and to our community. We currently serving Nye County, the 3rd largest county in the country, Esmeralda County and Lincoln County. NyE Communities Coalition is surrounded by beautiful mountains that are great for camping, rock climbing, hiking, and 4X4. We are also close to Red Rock Canyon and Las Vegas. We are eager to meet enthusiastic, motivated, and community-minded people to join our team! While we will provide plenty of guidance and support, we also value innovation and creativity for accomplishing our mission to grow healthy, sustainable communities. The Food Security and Prosperity Coordinator will establish a system to create a sustainable food program operated and supported by volunteers.

Member Duties : The Food Security and Prosperity Coordinator will work alongside the food pantries in Nye County to gain a better understanding of the needs and barriers within food security. The member will Coordinate, engage, and train volunteers to help operate and support local food pantries. The member will research and implement a process that will allow SNAP benefits to be used at local farmer markets.
