Adventurous Scouting programs to underserved youth

The Indian Waters Council of the Boy Scouts of America is embarking on an ambitious and transformative project to help change the lives of youth throughout the Lower Midlands of South Carolina. Scouting is a powerful and thought provoking program that we believe will greatly aid youth in rural and high poverty pocket areas. Through AmeriCorps we will start over two dozen new scouting units in afterschool programs throughout the Lower Midlands. In our programs AmeriCorps members will lead afterschool scouting programs by facilitating powerful lessons in leadership, character, and service in a fun and nurturing environment. Our Members Will: -Give leadership to the development and maintenance of quality Scouting programs located in underserved communities in accordance with the Boy Scouts of America’s Mission Statement. -Develop weekly programs/activities for cub scouts, boy scouts and venturing units that meet rank requirements. -Recruiting volunteers and community partners -Work with District Program Director in developing substitute tool kits and other program related assignments. -Assist with planning and organizing Spring and Fall camping experiences. -Ensure the delivery of quality programs in all Scouting units -Complete Fast Start, Youth Protection, This is Scouting, leader-specific training, and other advanced training deemed necessary for their areas of responsibility. -Track Scout attendance and advancement
