2015-2016 Fundraising and Resource Development VISTA- Bad Ri

The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians is a federally recognized Indian Tribe in northern Wisconsin. The Band is located on the North shore of Lake Superior, in northern Wisconsin, Situated on 125,000 acres. The mission of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians is: To work toward a more progressive, financially stable government, to maintain tribal sovereignty; and enable members to progress individually, towards a more fulfilling life culturally, spiritually, and economically. The Bad River VISTA project will work on a food sovereignty project to address critical needs in our community. The project will assist community members and the Band to develop and implement a sustainable food system through various programming activities and projects.

Member Duties : The Fundraising and Resource Development VISTA will partner with the other VISTAs, Tribal staff, and outside agencies to create or expand programs focused on addressing food security. They will expand and implement the Bad River Food Sovereignty fundraising and resource development strategy for the program as it relates to tribal food sovereignty. Some specific duties include: Expansion and implementation of a fundraising and resource development strategy to address organizational and community needs; Research, assess, and analyze funding opportunities on a community, state, and national level to develop program partnerships; Develop promotional materials about the Bad River Food Sovereignty initiative to be used as publicity pieces for previous and prospective donors; Continue to build donor relations with previous and prospective donors;
