The VISTA members housed at the Chicago Mayor's Office will: - Collaborate with Chicago Cares to promote volunteerism and civic engagement. - Manage volunteer engagement and capacity building, diversifying service opportunities. - Coordinate with civic partners for New Arrivals, building necessary infrastructure. - Develop a recruitment, retention, and recognition strategy with the City of Chicago and partners. - Form a Core Group of Volunteer Management Organizations, focusing on partnerships. - Establish a vetting and screening protocol for volunteers, ensuring safety. - Develop and implement a volunteer training program for effective assistance to asylum seekers. - Establish a robust volunteer coordination system, optimizing resources. - Create a sustainability plan for long-term volunteer engagement and support. Additionally, VISTA members supporting DFSS New Arrivals Sheltering Team will: - Conduct a needs assessment and gap analysis for asylum seekers' services. - Identify and leverage existing nonprofit partnerships for resource maximization. - Expand the network of service providers for comprehensive support. - Form a working group to coordinate and enhance wraparound services across shelters.
