SAY San Diego’s mission is to partner with youth, adults, families, and communities to reach their full potential. SAY is an independent multiservice agency impacting 70,000 San Diegans annually through programs offered through five resource centers, 44 school sites, and community engagement through seven coalitions/collaborative groups. One of those collaborative groups, the San Diego Military Family Collaborative (SDMFC), is a county-wide network of military organizations/groups dedicated to active-duty military families. With SDMFC’s expansive scope of work, the Collaborative work. Emerging in 2010 with 6 agencies to a current collection of over 150, SDMFC provides military families, nonprofit agencies, and other key stakeholders with platforms for communication along with monthly forums with expert panelists to educate, train, and discuss issues impacting military families. SDMFC identifies gaps in support and mobilizes action teams to address these military community needs. Current projects include military spouse support during transition, Drug Free Communities (SAMHSA), and health and wellness programming.
