WSU VISTA - Family Promise Grad. Leadership/Community Coord.

Family Promise of Greater Wichita, an affiliate of the national Family Promise program, is non-profit organization committed to empowering families with children to overcome homelessness and housing insecurity through a holistic approach, community involvement, and sustainable solutions. We help families accomplish this by providing shelter, meals, and intensive, accountability-based case management in partnership with local congregations and a vast army of volunteers. Family Promise of Greater Wichita also works with the families in a long-term capacity in our Graduate Stabilization program and also work with families to prevent homelessness in our Emergency Services program. At Family Promise you will have the opportunity to develop programming, mobilize volunteers, and advocate for change and work alongside a hardworking and passionate staff. The VISTA will design a new program for families who have overcome homelessness and graduated from Family Promise. The VISTA will prepare a program to offer the parents career pathway assessments, workforce development opportunities, micro-entrepreneurship training, and supportive internships. In addition, children will be offered scholarships for programs and activities that promote leadership, growth, and development. These economic opportunities create the basis for security and stability that separates families from poverty and allows them and their children to aspire to the future every child deserves.

Member Duties : --Establish parameters and infrastructure for the Graduate Leadership Program including scope, services offered, eligibility requirements, estimated budget, and length of program. --Work with development staff and volunteer fund development teams to increase funding and build capacity for expanded programming including new community partners. --Develop policies and procedures and create forms for the Graduate Leadership Program and the scholarship program for children. --Develop training materials utilizing existing resources and building new partnerships. --Work with development staff and volunteer PR team to promote the program within the community and to the target eligible participants.
