WSU VISTA - Stafford Co EcoDevo Public Health VISTA
 
 
 
Stafford County Economic Development (EcoDevo) strives to achieve local economic growth by supporting businesses & industry, fostering employment opportunities, improving housing, and cultivating amenities that improve quality of life and encourage population growth. EcoDevo is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and this designation has allowed the organization to pursue grant funding, leverage resources, and invest in our communities. VISTA members will assist in research, planning and coalition building efforts that address public health, support workforce development, encourage business development, expand cultural amenities, and improve local infrastructure. Affordable housing is available for $250/month; this is a private room in a house or apartment that is fully furnished shared by other VISTAs or interns. St. John has a new grocery store, a coworking space, and a lovely town square among other things. Additionally, Stafford County boasts a movie theater, roller skating rink, a dozen restaurants, workout facilities, outdoor pools, an indoor pool, community festivals, Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, and more. Pratt and Great Bend are each about a 30-minute drive, Hutchinson is a 60-minute drive, and Wichita is a 90-minute drive.

Member Duties : (1) Protect and improve the health of people and their communities throughout the county; (2) Research public health needs around access of care, affordable housing, and early childhood development including childcare; (3) Design, implement, and assist with public health related projects and programs based off research and other initiatives; (4) Identify funding opportunities and assist with grant writing; (5) Cultivate community collaboration; (6) Develop a marketing and outreach plan that engages residents and health professionals; (7) Assist with activities that support public health.
