23 Arizona Serve - Diaper Bank - Outreach/Engagement Coord.

The Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona (DBSA) addresses the need for diapers, incontinence, and period supplies in our region. Founded in 1994, DBSA is the nation’s first dedicated diaper bank established in the United States, and a proud member of the Alliance for Period Supplies. DBSA is the fiscal sponsor of the Diaper Bank of Central Arizona (DBCA) which distributes over 630,000 products, mainly in Maricopa County, home to Phoenix. In Phoenix, 1 out of 5 residents live at or below the poverty line. One in three babies in Arizona are born into poverty and nearly 10% of adults 65 or older live at or below the federal poverty line, with numbers on the rise. 1 in 4 women and girls report missing work or school due to a lack of period supplies. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will serve as the Outreach & Engagement Coordinator, based in Tucson, but with a focus on supporting the work of DBCA in Phoenix. Working with DBSA’s CEO, and DBSA and DBCA staff, the VISTA will work to increase awareness and visibility of DBCA in the Phoenix area, while nurturing a variety of community connections. **Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed first-come, first-served.
