55,000 Degrees Outreach Coordinator

One of Louisville’s greatest challenges is to overcome historically low levels of educational attainment by building a common, widespread understanding of the link between education and future success. In October 2010, 55,000 Degrees took on the mission to add 40,000 bachelor’s degrees and 15,000 associate degrees in Louisville by 2020. Guided by the Collective Impact Framework, we work in partnership with educational institutions, businesses, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, local government, and committed individuals to identify barriers to education, fill gaps in the pipeline, and engage the entire community in reaching our common goal.

Member Duties : In an effort to advance the 55,000 Degrees initiative and the Count Me In! movement, the AmeriCorps VISTA member will lead three significant projects: 1.) Reach out to prospective individuals and organizations to join the 55,000 Degrees effort through tabling, presentations, meetings, and networking. Promote engagement and strong communications with partners who take the Count Me In! pledge. 2.) Assist with planning and executing community-wide aligned events and activities supporting college-going, college access, and college completion. Ensure broad awareness and engagement of partner organizations in planning, implementation, and communications. 3.) Contribute to grants management for the organization through grant writing, tracking, and reporting on outcomes of grants. Research and identify additional grant opportunities.
