Hocking Athens Perry Community Action

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP), an anti-poverty nonprofit in Southeast Ohio, strives to mobilize resources that empower individuals to work towards self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life. In order to fulfill this mission, HAPCAP runs a wide range of programs that meet the many needs and serve thousands of unduplicated clients annually. A small sampling of these programs include Meals on Wheels, Head Start/Early Head Start, Weatherization, Logan Public Transit, Energy Assistance Programs and Employment Programs. The Employment Programs at HAPCAP help individuals set and achieve employment and education goals by working with individuals to create a plan and address any barriers or challenges that are holding them back. HAPCAP has a long, solid history of helping clients achieve gainful employment and has developed a strong foundation. We are now in an exciting period of growth and are searching for the right person to help us continue our plan for implementing changes and improvements to the Employment Programs in our Community Services division. The VISTA will help increase the capacity of Employment Program’s ability to serve clients by providing insight into the current client and community needs and satisfaction levels. The VISTA will develop and implement various assessments and evaluations. The VISTA will then work with the team members to develop a plan for addressing the findings of the assessments and evaluations. Part of that plan will include collection and organization of helpful community resources, development of improved or new programming that will help better prepare clients for the workforce, and improving the program’s online presence. The VISTA will be completing valuable work that will lay the foundation for implementation of improved programming in Hocking County and potential replication in other Southeast Ohio counties.
