Asian Pacific Women's Center - Workforce Development Program

During the final year of the three-year VISTA project period, APWC projects utilizing the services of the VISTA to implement, evaluate and ensure sustainability of the Workforce Development Program as outlined by the year two VISTAs. APWC’s goal is to strengthen the Workforce Development Program in equipping clients of the Transitional Shelter Program (TSP) with new work related skillsets, education, training and resources needed to enter the workforce, achieve economic independence, obtain permanent housing, and become a confident head of the household. With a strengthened and established WDP, APWC can provide workforce development services to an increased number of homeless survivors in APWC’s residential and community programs. APWC will increase partnerships with community agencies with expertise in workforce development in order to develop, improve and increase support services through cross-referrals and coordinating staff capacity. In this three-year project period, APWC projects moving approximately 120 individuals from homelessness to sustainable, financial independence and violence free environments.
