BMC Pediatrics Intermediary VISTA Leader

The Boston Medical Center Pediatrics AmeriCorps VISTA Intermediary Program is dedicated to improving child health outcomes by supporting community-based initiatives that address the social determinants of health. Through partnerships with local organizations, our program places VISTA members who work on sustainable projects that tackle issues such as food insecurity, housing stability, and access to healthcare and education. VISTA members contribute by building capacity, developing resources, and fostering partnerships to strengthen the support network for underserved families. This program not only aims to empower communities but also to provide VISTA members with professional development and meaningful experiences that equip them to become future leaders in community health and advocacy.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA Leader will collaborate with the AmeriCorps Intermediary Program Coordinator to establish a sustainable orientation program for a new cohort model launching in the summer of 2025. They will also work to analyze our current member recruitment process and determine ways in which we can make it more equitable. The VL will develop a monthly newsletter to keep members updated on available resources and work with the Program Coordinator to organize quarterly Professional Development workshops. These workshops will involve coordinating guest speakers, designing PowerPoint presentations and supplementary materials, and arranging catering. The VL will be responsible for creating wellness opportunities to foster connection and support among members throughout their service year. This includes organizing activities and events that promote community, well-being, and engagement, helping members build meaningful relationships during their time in service.
