2017 Detroit Program Coordinator (826 Michigan)
 
 
 
826 National will work with AmeriCorps*VISTA members to build the organization’s capacity to serve under-resourced students in seven urban areas across the country where we have writing/tutoring centers (San Francisco, Ann Arbor/Detroit, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago and New York). AmeriCorps*VISTA members will work at the National office in San Francisco, focusing on community assessment and replication, marketing, development and retail operations. Additionally, 826 National will deploy AmeriCorps*VISTA members to work directly in our centers to provide for the sustainability of volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts; conduct development activities, and support in-school and on-site program and program expansion efforts to broaden access for under-resourced students in these cities.

Member Duties : Build awareness to expand the volunteer corps in support of 826michigan’s Detroit writing center. Member will also support volunteer performance and retention, in order to ensure continued and improved delivery of free 826 programs and individualized attention to Michigan youth. Implement and coordinate new High School Scholars program at After-School Tutoring in Detroit.
