NRGRDA Regional Communications Coordinator VISTA

New River Gorge Regional Development Authority (NRGRDA) provides economic and community development support in Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas and Summers Counties of West Virginia. Coordination of communication at a regional scale has the potential to accelerate development within the New River Gorge. The project will coordinate economic development communication within the region’s communities while strengthening a regional collaborative approach to advance economic and community development. Working in tandem with county, regional, and state partners, the project will result in the development of regional communication tools that will increase development capacity in the NRG region. The success of this project will be measured by quantifying the development of new internal systems and procedures, community members engaged, use of online tools, and new partnerships and opportunities (job creation, capital investment, and business created) in relation to the project, and an increase in community engagement with NRGRDA’s work. The project will also leverage the recent redesignation of the New River Gorge National River to a National Park and Preserve and related partnerships like the New River Gorge Working Group. Some key strategies in this project will include: - supporting development and alignment of community/county-based engagement platforms - executing needed NRGRDA platform updates to ensure appropriate portrayal of economic development work and resources across the region - developing a framework that ensures broader outreach - sharing project tools and resources available from NRGRDA within the service area - creating a sharable communications framework/guidebook to support equitable community engagement in economic development outside of the NRG region, including the WV Hive’s thirteen-county region. The role is in-person, located in Beckley, WV and regular travel through the region covered by the site.
