Social Economic Developer VISTA

The overall goal of this project is to build capacity in the Albuquerque area, as well as throughout New Mexico, to alleviate poverty, create sustainable employment with living wages, and provide a better quality of life. The VISTA will plan and implement program development in social enterprise and economic justice initiatives. The objective is to design a model and build the foundation for a social-economic development initiative that will provide workforce training in new skills for local low-wage workers and displaced workers due to COVID-19, create jobs with livable wages in the community, sustain family employment and wages, and cultivate cooperatives and businesses that address a community need (such as access to healthy food or clean energy) without competing with any local businesses. Through these activities, the VISTA will build the agency’s capacity to serve families and alleviate poverty in the Albuquerque and Central New Mexico community. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA’s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty.
