Coach Across America: America SCORES LA _ Minimum-Time
 
 
 
As a Coach Across America member you will serve, teach and support youth through America SCORES LA, an organization that provides soccer programming for under-resourced youth. The service term you are applying for is a Minimum-Time position and the number of hours you will be required to accrue during your service year is 300. You will receive extensive training in the proven methods of sports-based youth development (SBYD), along with tool box of coaching techniques, team building activities and the knowledge needed to coach effectively, and you will learn how to use your sport as vehicle for social change. As a head or assistant coach, you will address some of the most pressing needs of our nation's young people: childhood obesity, academic failure and anti-social behavior. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in a range of capacity building activities with America SCORES LA. Are you ready to coach?

Member Duties : While working with America SCORES LA your primary role will be as Head or Assistant coach of a youth sports team. America SCORES LA offers soccer programming for under-resourced youth. You will use your love of sports and the skills you have developed as an athlete to coach youth in this program. However, no day will ever be the same and you can expect to wear many different hats and will develop various skill-sets during your service year. Roles for this position may include: Program Assistant; Health and Nutrition Leader; Camp Coordinator; Assistant Event Planner; Volunteer Recruiter- Service Learning Facilitator; Referee.
