'22-'23 REMOTE United Way Recruitment VISTA Leader

Greater South Sound Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) connects organizations that lift people out of poverty with AmeriCorps members who want to make a difference. We are based out of United Way of Thurston County, which is currently a fully remote organization due to COVID-19. Any nonprofit, government agency, or educational institution in Thurston, Pierce, Clallam, Lewis, Mason, Jefferson, or Grays Harbor County can apply to host an AmeriCorps member. Since 2015, our AmeriCorps Members have generated over four million dollars in cash and in-kind donations for their host organizations. Current host sites include Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, other local United Ways, local food banks, and public health departments.

Member Duties : You must be an AmeriCorps State/National, VISTA, or Peace Corps alum to apply for this role. As the VISTA Leader for recruitment, your Year of Service will focus on 1) Working with 19 hiring managers at local nonprofits to recruit and interview a diverse team of qualified AmeriCorps members to serve in United Way of Thurston County's Greater South Sound VISTA program and 2) Researching and meeting with potential new host sites that are fighting poverty in our region. You will be a full member of United Way of Thurston County's team and will have ample opportunities for professional networking in the nonprofit sector. Training provided. This position is 40 hours per week, with some flexibility about when those hours are served. The position is also 100% remote - relocation is not required. Note: We offer an additional $200/month for rent assistance in addition to the standard AmeriCorps benefits.
