Northland Cares is a non-profit organization specifically founded to meet the specialized needs of people living with HIV/AIDS in northern Arizona. The federal government estimates that between 1,200 and 1,400 individuals residing in this vast geographic, culturally diverse area are infected with HIV; however, only 10% of those people are currently enrolled in services. Northland Cares’ programs and services are designed to create opportunities for people impacted by HIV to engage in a healthy, whole, and vibrant life. All services are provided in a nurturing, comfortable, caring, and professional environment, regardless of ability to pay, language, sexual identity, mobility, or other factors.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will attend HIV education and outreach events to connect community members with testing, prophylaxis, and harm and risk reduction materials.They will educate the public on PrEP/nPEP programs, HIV and STD prevention methods, and harm reduction. The member will also support the Community Outreach manager with tasks related to HIV testing during the events, such as tracking people waiting for testing and assisting with completing questionnaires.
