orest Corps is a program partnership between AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) and United States Forest Service (USFS). Forest Corps will provide you with hands on wildland fire prevention and restoration experience while you serve in a team of 18-26 year olds, earn money for college, travel, and help communities. The AmeriCorps NCCC mission is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service. Training for the 2024 Forest Corps will be held at the Pacific Region campus in Sacramento, CA. Here is what you can expect during your service: -Serve full-time for 10 months (1 month training, 9 months completing service projects.) -Join a team of 8-12 young adults -Work closely with USFS professionals in the sector of natural and cultural resource management -Deploy to a minimum of 3 projects across the country (transportation provided) Next steps: - Complete an application by clicking the “Apply Now!” button below. Member Duties : You will perform direct, hands-on service in the areas of Wildfire Risk Mitigation, Reforestation, Environmental Conservation, and Resource Management. Your service project could include hazardous fuels reduction, protecting threatened habitats, conducting prescribed burnings, wildlife surveys, infrastructure or trail maintenance, or providing nursery services to support growing seedlings, so adaptability is key! You’ll also undergo intensive training with the United States Forest Service to prepare you and take on leadership roles and specialized assignments along the way. Learn and grow with a team of your peers and get a foot in the door to work environmental conservation as a career.
