Little Tokyo Service Center Community Development Corporation (LTSC CDC). LTSC CDC is a fast-paced nonprofit organization with over 140 employees. It has been “helping people and building community” for 35 years providing service to over 10,000 people each year. LTSC CDC carries out a wide range of programs including social services, childcare, economic development and building affordable housing. LTSC CDC provides affordable housing and resident services for families, the working poor, seniors, formerly homeless, transition aged youth and other special needs populations. LTSC responds to the needs of the working poor families living in the areas surrounding downtown Los Angeles. The goal of LTSC’s working poor program is to enable people to open doors of opportunity for themselves. LTSC provides bilingual case management, employment preparedness, childcare referrals, and financial literacy with the goal of empowering people to seek employment, education or start new career paths leading towards greater self-sufficiency. Last year LTSC staff began the Financial Capability and Asset Building Program. The program consist of (1) building the financial capability of residents in order to put them in a position to build assets; includes acquiring skills, knowledge, or improving their cash position, which can enable them to build assets; (2) assist residents in creating or strengthening financial assets such as increased savings, improved credit record and/or FICO score by paying bills on time, completing a degree, certificate, or job skill course, securing a higher paying job or other additional income.
