The IRC in LA Economic Empowerment Associate: E & O
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps Economic Empowerment Associate: Employment and Outreach will provide assistance to refugees and other qualified immigrants to ensure they attain self-sufficiency through employment and conduct outreach to ensure lawful permanent resident in Southern California have the opportunity to become U.S. citizens. The position comprises job counseling and placement, outreach to LPRs in at least nine communities in Los Angeles County. The AmeriCorps Economic Empowerment Associate: Employment and Outreach will develop self-sufficiency plans tailored to individual client needs and preferences based on client eligibility, and work closely with the Citizenship & Financial Education Specialist to coordinate outreach activities throughout the region.

Member Duties : Supporting resettlement caseworkers’ engagement with refugees; Providing resettlement caseworkers with information to inform client employment, including employer updates and client assessment information; Conducting client intake interviews and employability assessments; Providing pre-employment/job readiness orientation to clients;Developing comprehensive employment plans for clients; Identifying appropriate employment opportunities for clients; Determining specific employment opportunities for clients and assisting clients in accessing these opportunities by guiding them through the hiring process; Assisting clients and employers with post placement issues and continuing employment needs; Working with and supporting Financial Literacy volunteers from local financial institutions and the wider community;Tracking clients’ use of credit-building activities and prepares reports of those activities; Ensuring timely and accurate compliance to all reporting requirements.
