ACE Conservation Corps - Central California June 16
 
 
 
Those who make the commitment will play a role in implementing trail restoration, invasive plant species removal, and technical trail construction alongside our partners. Training includes related hand tools, safety, camp hygiene, trail building principles, while learning about local ecology. Members will learn techniques of forest restoration while training on complex invasive species removal, habitat restoration, trail building and erosion prevention techniques under the guidance of ACE’s staff members and industry professionals. The goal of the position is to foster career development opportunities and to accomplish meaningful trailwork and restoration projects in collaboration with a variety of public land management agencies (regional, state, federal) while becoming proficient in advanced field techniques, teamwork, and professional communication. Over 27 weeks, members will be trained in trail construction and/or ecology and invasive plant removal, forest thinning, technical rockwork and masonry, Leave-No-Trace, worksite safety, backcountry health, GPS use, surveying, and plant identification. Membership spanning several seasons allows for additional training opportunities in various fields of land management and restoration. Position requires hiking, backpacking, camping and cooking outdoors while at front country and wilderness spike camps. All participants must be flexible and willing to be assigned to a variety of locations and for multiple agencies, wherever community need is the highest. Flexibility is necessary for locations during days-off; you will spend days-off in housing locations and time-off on project sites.
