Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Beloit owns and manages Brittan House, a transitional living facility for adult males who would otherwise be homeless. Brittan House has 45 single rooms, shared bathrooms, a shared kitchen and a shared living space with a television. The men at Brittan House range in age from early 20’s to 60’s with the majority of men between 40 and 60. They come to Brittan House after exhausting all other living situations. Brittan House has a strict rule structure; no alcohol, drugs or weapons are permitted. Men at Brittan House have the right to a safe living situation where they can enjoy their right to a peaceful environment. NHS will interview persons interested in this VISTA position who have a desire to make a difference in the lives of men experiencing homelessness.

Member Duties : This VISTA member will make a tangible difference in the lives of men who have found themselves in a homeless situation. The VISTA will assist the men in examining their situation, determining their choices and resources and will assist the men in finding appropriate, long term living situations. The VISTA will network with organizations in the area who are working to end homelessness.
