VITAL Project - VISTAs Igniting The community to provide Access to Life VISTAs serving to increase the capacity of The Arc Jacksonville and Arc of Florida by endeavoring to connect individuals to new, sustainable services and supports designed to improve the economic well-being of individuals with mental health/intellectual/developmental disabilities (MH/I/DD). Services that are affordable, increase/stabilize employment, improve financial literacy, sustain affordable housing, all designed to lift out of poverty individuals with MH/I/DD and to prevent other individuals and families from falling into poverty. Members serve in volunteer program development, expanding Pre-employment training/employment opportunities, expanding financial literacy, access to low income housing, research into best practices, developing systems to increase capacity, program design/piloting, marketing and development of resources. VISTA members engaged with Arc in this aggressive and constructive approach to improving the well-being of individuals with I/DD and their families will be exposed to innovation, creativity and the reward of knowing lives have been changed and improved through their efforts.

Member Duties : To research and compile resources designed to improve outcomes for individuals with disabilities, in the areas of education, healthcare, housing, and employment. Develop plans to disseminate the information in various methodologies and accessible by populations served.
