VITAL Project - VISTAs Igniting The community to provide Access to Life VISTAs serving to increase the capacity of The Arc Jacksonville by endeavoring to create new, sustainable services and supports to improve the economic well-being of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families. Services that are affordable, increase employment prospects, improve financial literacy, sustain affordable housing, all designed to lift out of poverty individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and to prevent other individuals and families from falling into poverty. Members serve in volunteer program development, expanding Pre-employment training/employment opportunities, expanding financial literacy, access to low income housing, research into best practices, developing systems to increase capacity, program design/piloting, marketing and development of resources. VISTA members engaged with Arc in this aggressive and constructive approach to improving the well-being of individuals with I/DD and their families will be exposed to innovation, creativity and the reward of knowing lives have been changed and improved through their efforts.

Member Duties : Coordinate informational sessions regarding employment, benefits for families, individuals with disabilities, and professionals. Explore training opportunities and partnerships for building skill based training programs. Assist with identifying and scheduling guest speakers and various trainings for Arc employment programs. Network with community partners and county school district regarding the transition from school to work.
