DeKalb County Board of Health

Our VISTA project focuses on two particular health areas: refugee mental health and tuberculosis. The Refugee Mental Health Program addresses the mental health needs of refugees through counseling and/or referral to other providers. By virtue of their refugee status, these individuals are usually living in poverty. The Tuberculosis (TB) Program provides testing, education, surveillance, diagnosis, treatment and case management. While the program serves a cross-section of DeKalb County residents, some TB clients are refugees from countries where TB is endemic or HIV/AIDS clients who are coinfected with TB.
