Clare Housing Outreach & Engagement, IA & MN Campus Compact

Clare Housing provides a continuum of affordable and supportive housing options that create healing communities and optimize the health of people living with HIV/AIDS. Today, over 8,000 people in Minnesota are living with HIV/AIDS. Fifty-percent of them will be homeless or have a housing crisis during the course of their lifetimes. Clare Housing has a closed waiting list of around 300 people in need of a home. Today, Clare Housing is the largest licensed provider of supportive affordable housing for people living with HIV in Minnesota. Unique in its mission and focused in its execution, Clare Housing is the only organization in Minnesota dedicated to advancing new programs and solutions to address the full-continuum of HIV-related housing needs. Clare Housing is ending homelessness among individuals living with HIV/AIDS, one move-in at a time. The VISTA member will develop and implement a volunteer engagement strategy to better reach potential volunteers and match them to agency needs. In addition, the VISTA member will develop and implement a community-based education and awareness campaign which includes, but is not limited to, creating campus partnerships to deepen the impact of the agency. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***January start date is a possibility. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***

Member Duties : The VISTA member will assess current communication efforts & partnerships related to volunteerism to identify areas for growth, such as weekly resident activities; research best practices for volunteer programs; create and launch volunteer outreach strategy; create templates for outreach and volunteer programming; generate a contact list and continue outreach efforts by coordinating with organization staff and local partners; revise volunteer engagement strategy based on initial feedback and findings from staff & residents; create staff training for volunteer supervision; community-Based Education and Awareness Campaign; assess current communication efforts & identify key community partnerships; research best practices for community-based public health education campaign; develop an outreach strategy to connect with community members; and create campus partnerships to deepen the impact of the agency.
