* PRC - Park County Big Brothers, Big Sisters

In Park County, there are currently 27 at-risk children on waiting lists or in the interview process for enrolling in the organization’s mentoring programs. Park County BBBS operates under the belief that all children benefit from having a caring, non-parental adult in their lives; someone to listen to what they have to say, someone to have fun with, and someone to give them one-on-one attention. Public/Private Ventures found that after 18 months of spending time with their Bigs, the Little Brothers and Little Sisters, compared to those children not in our program, were 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class, and 33% less likely to hit someone. For youth specifically in our organization that spend at least 12 months with their mentor, 89.3% have better self-confidence, 68.2% have an increased sense of the future, 72.8% have better academic performance, 76.9% have a better attitude toward school, and 70.2% have higher classroom performance.
