* PRC - Montana DPHHS-Injury Prevention Program

There are 48 million Americans living in poverty, with 3.7 million are in need of substance use disorder treatment. To help reduce these numbers in the future, primary prevention efforts are needed to provide youth with tools they can use to stop themselves and their peers from becoming addicted to substances that can lead to less job opportunities, costly injuries, or death. The VISTA will work with Injury Prevention and Addictive and Mental Disorder Division (AMDD) staff to develop an informative mini-grant application and evaluation process to distribute $75,000 in funds to help move at risk youth out of poverty by providing evidence-based substance abuse prevention education programs across the state.
