Alliance VISTA – Hunger Impact Partners Program Associate

At Hunger Impact Partners we believe kids should only be hungry to learn. 498,681 MN kids are at risk for hunger. Nearly 1 in 6 kids live in food-insecure households. Unacceptable levels of food hardship exist among our kids, while federal child nutrition programs are drastically underutilized: • 42% of school breakfasts available to low-income kids are served in MN schools. • Only 4% of At-Risk After-School Meals are served to eligible youth. • 63% of WIC meals are provided to eligible children. • MN ranks 19th in ensuring kids have adequate summer nutrition. As a statewide non-profit model of Collective Impact, Hunger Impact Partners (HIP) works to remove barriers to children’s participation in severely under-utilized federal child nutrition programs. We mobilize Minnesota business, philanthropic and government leaders to join forces and channel resources to improve the lives of almost 500,000 kids. Hunger Impact Partners is the only statewide non-profit who can orchestrate this effort. With agility and speed, we focus on driving tailored initiatives to overcome barriers to infant and toddler nutrition programs, school breakfasts, after-school meals and summer feeding programs that can be sustained for years to come. We lead an aggressive, time-limited campaign to enroll more children in federal nutrition programs.

Member Duties : The VISTA will create an outreach, education, awareness and endorsement model to be used with each of our 4 initiatives, focusing on meals for kids in and out of school. All the collateral such as tool kits, media plans, websites, etc. will be replicated across all our initiatives. A big part of this project will be developing a spokesperson platform.
