Resilience AmeriCorps members will serve as local ambassadors and experts in impact volunteering, increasing local capacity and equipping low-income communities to better prepare for and address the risks and challenges associated with climate change. Responsibilities will include: Develop enhancements to existing resilience building engagements led by the City of Pittsburgh, community-based organizations and non-governmental organizations. NEIGHBORHOOD RESILIENCE NETWORK: Create systems of collaboration across City departments and non-government organization networks that incorporate a resilience lens into neighborhood outreach initiatives, volunteer efforts and events; COMMUNITY COHESION: Promote community cohesiveness and capacity building within Pittsburgh neighborhoods through impact volunteering, neighborhood to neighborhood sharing of experience and best practices; MEASUREMENT: Create a system of metrics that demonstrates the co-benefits created through impact volunteering and city to non-governmental organization resilience building collaborations at the neighborhood level. NETWORK BUILDING: Engage in one on one network building with City Departments and non-governmental organizations; STEERING COMMITTEE: Form advisory network to recognize and leverage existing assets and activities, identification of co-benefits and financial leveraging that compliment volunteer efforts in energy efficiency, storm-water mitigation and community preparedness; ASSET MAPPING: Develop asset mapping of non-governmental organizations and intergovernmental networks working on issues of energy efficiency, preparedness and storm-water mitigation; CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: Working with Office of Community Affairs to establish Community Based Organization Engagement; DOCUMENTATION: Document processes and materials for replication Create resilience training materials and facilitate trainings for volunteers to replicate in their neighborhoods.

Member Duties : The Resilient Pittsburgh Community Associate will plan and implement impact volunteering and community engagement initiatives that enhance climate resilience in low-income communities; conduct community outreach to hear resident concerns on resilience and preparedness; cultivate partnerships among stakeholders including; community organizations, city agencies, nonprofit organizations, private entities, local public utilities and energy companies, and more who can build capacity, serve as volunteers, and increase support for resilience work in low-income communities. Additional desired qualifications include facilitation skills, project management, customer service, cultural sensitivity, experience with vulnerable populations.
